In a thrilling move to promote sports development and combat the scourge of drug abuse among the youth, Zvimba East Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Kudakwashe Mananzva, has flagged off the Zvimba East Constituency 2025 Sports Tournament. The tournament, themed “Score Against Substance Abuse,” was launched at Rera Wedding Venue with ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province Youth League Chairman, Tapiwa Masenda, as the chief guest.
Sports have long been hailed as a potent catalyst for promoting a healthy lifestyle, fostering unity, and combating social ills such as substance abuse. By providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their prowess, the Zvimba East Constituency 2025 Sports Tournament is set to make a profound impact on the lives of young people in the region. The launch event was graced by prominent ZANU PF leadership from across the constituency, including councillors, district youth chairpersons, and provincial sports committee members. Former soccer star Justice Majavi was also in attendance, adding to the excitement and prestige of the event. A total of 73 soccer teams and 43 netball teams have thrown their hats into the ring, with registration being free. Hon. Mananzva generously donated jerseys and balls to each participating team, demonstrating his unwavering support for the youth. The tournament is set to culminate in a grand finale on December 6-7, 2025, and promises to be an electrifying event.
The tournament aims to provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and steer them away from the pitfalls of substance abuse. Chairman Masenda encouraged the youth to seize this opportunity, saying, “We challenge the youth to take advantage of such initiatives to identify and develop their talents.” Hon.
