Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe – Platinum FM, a leading provincial radio station headed by veteran broadcaster Davis Mugadza, is proud to announce its expansion to Kadoma, Mhondoro Ngezi, Chegutu, Zvimba, Sanyathi, Battlefields, Norton, and surrounding areas on frequency 96.8.
This expansion solidifies Platinum FM’s position as Zimbabwe’s biggest provincial radio station, offering hyper-local content tailored to the needs of Mashonaland West Province. The station’s journey began in 2017 as Nyaminyami FM, covering Kariba. After being granted a provincial license in 2022, the station rebranded to Platinum FM and relocated to Chinhoyi, the provincial capital.
The establishment of Platinum FM is part of a larger trend in Zimbabwe, where the coming of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s second Republic has seen the establishment of many community radio stations ¹. This development has been instrumental in promoting local artists, disseminating information, and giving a voice to marginalized communities.
