HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PASTOR SUNGANAI KANGAUSARU (1982-2025)
By Mashonaland West Correspondent
In the quiet hours of October 7th, 2025, heaven gained a gentle soul. Pastor Sunganai Kangausaru, beloved nephew to Honourable Chenjerai Kangausaru of Hurungwe East Constituency, passed away after a short illness in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. His sudden departure has left an ache in the hearts of many — a family, a church, and a community in mourning.
Born on 24 January 1982 in Chumusimbe village, Zimbabwe, Sunganai grew up in the serene rural surroundings of Tengwe, where he completed his education at Tengwe Secondary School. Even from a young age, he showed a deep-rooted strength, an enduring faith, and a kindness that left an impression on everyone he met.

In 2001, he journeyed to Johannesburg, South Africa — like many young Zimbabweans chasing a better future — carrying nothing but dreams and determination. By 2005, he had made Nelspruit his home, building a life not only of business success but of deep, spiritual purpose.
His marriage to Bernhilda Nyazamba in 2006 was the beginning of a life filled with unwavering love and commitment. Together, they were blessed with five beautiful children, who became the light of Sunganai’s world. His love for his family was unshakable — he was a husband who nurtured, a father who protected, and a provider who gave selflessly.
Beyond his role in the family, Pastor Sunganai was a man of God, a spiritual leader at God Is Able Ministry International (GIAMI). His ministry was not one of empty words but of powerful deeds, reaching hearts and lifting souls. He was known for his humility, wisdom, and open heart — always ready to pray for a friend, encourage a stranger, or feed a neighbor in need. His presence was a blessing, his faith unwavering.
“Sunganai was a kind and God-fearing man,” said Honourable Pastor Chenjerai Kangausaru. “He lived a life of service — to God, to his family, and to his people. His faith was unshakable, and his love was boundless. We are heartbroken, but we are thankful for the years God gave us with him.”
Another close relative, Joseph Kangausaru, spoke with deep emotion about the immense loss the family is enduring:
“We have lost a pillar. Sunganai was the man many of us in the family looked up to — for guidance, for counselling, for prayers. His wisdom was beyond his years, and his door was always open. This loss is truly immeasurable.”
As the family prepares to say goodbye, Honourable Kangausaru has confirmed the funeral arrangements for the beloved Pastor.
“The burial of my nephew, Pastor Sunganai Kangausaru, will take place on Monday, 13 October 2025, at Dan Maendaenda Kangausaru village, under Chief Mujinga, in Mahoi, Karoi, Hurungwe East Constituency, Mashonaland West Province. The service will begin at 9:00 AM,” he said.
He further extended an open invitation to all relatives, friends, and comrades — from Zimbabwe and abroad — who wish to attend the burial and celebrate Sunganai’s life.
For directions, assistance, or any inquiries, Honourable Kangausaru can be reached directly at +263 719 912 345 or alternatively at +263 775 500 044.
Sunganai’s passing is not just the loss of a family man or a pastor, but the departure of a man whose life was interwoven with love, sacrifice, and faith. He leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of kindness and service that will continue to echo in the lives of all who knew him.
As we gather to mourn, we also gather to celebrate a life that honored God, lifted the brokenhearted, and embraced the fullness of family and faith.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his spirit live on through his children, his church, and every heart he touched.
