MHANGURA – Zimbabwe’s march toward Vision 2030 continues to gain momentum under the leadership of the Second Republic, with government ministries and Members of Parliament translating national aspirations into tangible, people-centered development. In Mhangura constituency, this vision is taking root through the efforts of Hon. Douglas Mombeshora — a man wearing several important hats: Minister of Health and Child Care, Member of Parliament, and senior ZANU-PF political leader.
Despite his demanding schedule, Hon. Mombeshora remains deeply committed to his grassroots responsibilities. His consistent engagement with the people of Mhangura — attending community events, leading developmental projects, and listening to local concerns — reflects an unwavering dedication to servant leadership. His work exemplifies the ethos of the Second Republic: governance that is responsive, inclusive, and results-oriented.

In addition to his ministerial duties, Hon. Mombeshora has a critical role in Parliament — not only to legislate, but to speak on behalf of his constituents and make the central government aware of the pressing challenges they face. Among these is the state of education infrastructure in farming communities, where many schools lack standard learning facilities, access to electricity, and internet connectivity. These gaps hinder the smooth delivery of education and limit opportunities for learners in an increasingly digital world.
Water access remains another challenge. While several boreholes have been drilled across the constituency, the number falls short of what is required to adequately serve the entire population. In urban Mhangura, residents have appealed to Hon. Mombeshora to intervene in an ongoing stalemate between ZESA and ZINWA, which has left the town without tap water. The disconnection of ZINWA by ZESA due to arrears has disrupted water supply, putting lives at risk and raising fears of disease outbreaks — especially in densely populated areas.
Yet, despite these challenges, development continues. Hon. Mombeshora’s leadership has seen the rolling out of multiple initiatives in Mhangura aligned with national development priorities. From road infrastructure upgrades and school support programs to the donation of sanitary pads for girls, and the launch of income-generating projects for women, these efforts are improving livelihoods and restoring dignity in the constituency.
In the health sector — one of the most critical pillars of national development — Hon. Mombeshora has overseen several commendable achievements as minister. Under his watch, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has intensified efforts to improve access to health services, expand health education, and strengthen primary healthcare delivery. Free screening and treatment campaigns, including recent events in Mhangura, underscore the Second Republic’s commitment to leaving no one and no place behind.
Nevertheless, Hon. Mombeshora acknowledges that much work lies ahead. Zimbabwe’s health sector continues to face challenges — from infrastructure gaps and staff shortages to the need for improved medical equipment. Transforming the sector into one that meets the needs of all citizens is a mammoth task, and one he leads with focus and urgency.
Balancing his roles as a cabinet minister, lawmaker, and party official, Hon. Mombeshora exemplifies the calibre of leadership demanded by the Second Republic — leadership grounded in discipline, responsiveness, and people-centered governance. His ability to remain actively engaged in his constituency despite a national workload speaks volumes of his personal commitment to his community and the broader national agenda.
The progress seen in Mhangura is a microcosm of the broader transformation underway across Zimbabwe. As the country draws closer to its Vision 2030 targets — to become an upper-middle-income society — enablers like Hon. Mombeshora continue to bridge the gap between policy and real-world impact.
While the achievements are notable, it is the system — a government focused on inclusive development and national renewal — that deserves recognition. And within that system, Hon. Mombeshora continues to play a vital role in delivering a better Zimbabwe for all.
